Paul/Sam’s Tall Ship Fundraising Voyage

November 16, 2017

When Paul lost both his legs, he thought he would never walk again. After we helped him turn his life around, he wanted to take on a challenge and fundraise to allow us to continue to help other amputees like him. We organised a once in a lifetime sailing voyage on a tall ship for him, and he began an amazing fundraising campaign, raising over £1,500 in a short time.

Due to wounds caused by Paul’s new prosthetics, he will unfortunately not be ready in time to make the voyage.  Paul reached out to friend, fellow Trooper and double amputee Samantha to take his place.  Sam is now sailing for FYF and for Paul, who hopes to take on another voyage in the future. All of us at FYF are absolutely gutted for Paul, but know that once he bounces back he will go onto big things. The old saying goes that when one door closes, another opens, and we could not be prouder of Sam embarking on the voyage to keep Paul’s dream alive and his fundraising campaign going.

Sam embarks from Gran Canaria on Saturday the 6th of January. She will be part of the crew on the tall ship, and will be taking on everything from setting the sails to cooking in the galley. It’s a life changing experience and one she is both nervous and excited for. We’ll be keeping everyone updated here and on the Facebook page, so please spread the word and show her some love!
