Christine Skinner knows more about feet than possibly anyone we’ve ever met – and for a charity full of amputees, that turns out to be no bad thing to have on your Board.
Christine is a former Dean of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, a position she held from 2020 until 2023. Her whole career has centred on diabetic foot disease and reducing amputation. Among many achievements, she helped establish Scotland’s first multi-disciplinary Diabetic Foot Clinic at what’s now the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, and led research and consultancy work for universities and the World Health Organisation across the Middle East and Asia. Before all of that, she spent years at Glasgow Caledonian University leading podiatry programmes and shaping the next generation of practitioners.
For all those titles, you’re just as likely to find Christine at our Ampu-Teas each week, pouring the teas, handing round the home baking and spending proper time with our Troopers. She works with people one to one and in groups on foot care, lends us her extraordinary contacts, guides our medical campaigns, and – because she’ll turn her hand to anything – is also one of our bank signatories. We’re very lucky to have her.
