Researcher Gemma Broughton of University of Wolverhampton is looking into psychological support for the family unit of amputees. Can you help?
Below is some information from Gemma:Â
I am currently collecting data for my dissertation as part of my MSc Psychology degree exploring the perceived benefits of familial psychological support for the transition to life as an amputee family?
TO PARTICIPATE YOU MUST BE:
- Be the age of 18 years or over.
- Be the family member of an amputee who has been at home for 12 weeks or more following amputation.
What will be involved in taking part in the study?
You would be voluntarily participating in an open-ended interview to gain insight on your perception of psychological support for the family units of amputees. The interview will last no longer than one hour and will take place online via Microsoft teams. All personal data collected will be kept confidential; only the researcher and supervisor will have access to such records.
Importance of study:
The study hopes to gain an understanding of the extent that amputee family members believe early familial psychological input would aid transition to life as an amputee family. The project can hopefully be used in the future to generate support for families.
