Run the Blades

February 26, 2024

Have you got what it takes to “Run the Blades”?

Run the Blades is one of the largest trail running events in the UK and is a totally unique event held exclusively within the UK’s largest onshore wind farm, ScottishPower Renewables’ Whitelee Wind Farm. There are three distances you can choose from – a 10K, half marathon and 50K ultramarathon – and the event makes trail running accessible to runners of all fitness and experience levels. It definitely sounds like one for the bucket list!

If you’re a Trooper (FYF amputee) looking to get involved, they have had people with disabilities, including a wheelchair user, several times, doing the 10k before and can help put in additional measures for this and keep an eye out for you. Just get in touch with us and we’ll help you get organised.

How do I register?

It usually costs from £26-£38 to get yourself a place, but we’ve been generously gifted 5 free places by Breaking Strain so you can take part and support amputees across Scotland.

Event Details:

Fri 19th July 2024 – 10km (6.2 miles) – Free entry
Sat 20th July 2024 – 50km (30 miles) – Free entry
Sun 21st July 2024 – 21km (13 miles) – Free entry

How do I get started?

Well other than getting your running shoes or gloves on to start training, you can get in touch with us at info@findingyourfeet.net to let us know you’re interested. We’ll send you over a discount code which you can use on the Run the Blades website which will grant you a free entry. You can also let us know your t-shirt size so we can send you a free FYF t-shirt to wear on the day.

After this, you can set up your JustGiving page and start fundraising to support amputees! If it helps, you can check out our JustGiving page setup tutorial here.

Good luck everyone… especially those taking on the ultramarathon!
