Kate is the Development manager of Sleep Well Science and a PhD student at Nottingham Trent University, researching sleep after traumatic injury and the relationship between sleep, fatigue, and pain after traumatic amputation, spinal cord injury, and brain injury.
What’s involved?
This study involves one online questionnaire which should take around 20 minutes to complete. To take part in this research, participants must…
- be aged 18 or above
- live in the UK
- have sustained either a traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, or limb amputation – This must be a traumatic injury (external physical impact occurring suddenly and requiring immediate medical attention – rather than injuries born with, a result of disease, or cancer, for example)
- have full capacity to be capable of providing consent
Why should you take part?
Upon taking part in this research, you will be provided with a personalised report of your sleep, fatigue, and pain, and where these lie in comparison to uninjured individuals. This will provide you with an insight of your sleep disturbances, and whether you may need to seek further sleep interventions. There are no risks to taking part that you would not normally encounter when using your device for up to half an hour. You are free to take breaks whenever needed and can leave blank any questions that you do not feel comfortable answering.
