It may be difficult and often feels taboo, but let’s talk about it and try to help those who need it.

In Scotland, 805 people died by suicide in 2020. This is 28 fewer than in 2019. The overall suicide rate was 15.0 per 100,000, with men being 2.6x more likely to die by suicide in Scotland than Females.

This past year and a half has been so challenging for many of us. Taking the first step is often the hardest, but it does get better. Whether it’s talking to family, a friend or an organisation – if you reach out, there will be a hand there waiting and wanting to help you. The world is a better place with you in it.

If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, it’s okay to ask for help. As independent and strong as we can be as people, sometimes a helping hand is all we need to get through the rough patches. Below are some amazing Scotland and UK based organisations who can chat to you, or a loved one who needs help.
