Our Troopers are simply amazing and we’d love for you to read their stories of where they’ve been and how they get on through life as amputees. Keep an eye on this space for new stories.

Meet Andy
“After I had my leg amputated, the negative thoughts started about two months later… I just burst out crying. And that was when I knew I needed help. Thank god Finding Your Feet are here, because I don’t think I would be here if it wasn’t for them.”

Meet Carol
“Before my amputation, I was constantly on the go – working full-time, meeting friends, living life. Everything changed when I developed a flesh-eating disease (necrotising fasciitis) on my left buttock, and a patch of cellulitis on my right ankle. The infection spread quickly, and I went into sepsis. I needed emergency surgery, and that operation ultimately led to the loss of my leg.

Meet Toni
“The early days were really hard. They were dark. I didn’t have much faith. I had a lot of anger… a lot of why me? Trying to navigate it all while being a new mum was daunting.”

Meet Barbara
“Being an amputee does not stop me.” Says Trooper Barbara, who is proudly busy.
After a head-on car crash and 3 years of trying to save her foot, Barbara made the decision to have a below-knee amputation.

Meet Alex
“I became an above the knee amputee in April 2021 because of the reaction I took to the AstraZeneca Covid vaccine. I was given no hope of survival when I collapsed at home.”
